Intercom Pricing 2026: $29/Seat Becomes $1,320/Month
What Intercom really costs in 2026: $29 to $132 per seat, plus $0.99 per Fin outcome. See the bill at 3, 5, 10 and 20 seats, and a flat-priced alternative.

TL;DR
As of September 2026, Intercom has three plans: Essential at $29/seat/mo, Advanced at $85/seat/mo, and Expert at $132/seat/mo, all billed annually, with no free plan. Every plan also charges $0.99 per Fin outcome on top of the seat price, so the bill has two meters running at once. At 10 seats, Intercom Expert costs $1,320/month – a flat-priced alternative like ProductBridge covers the same team for $59/month, 96% less.
Intercom gives you live chat, ticketing, and Fin, its AI agent. But it charges you twice for using it – once per seat, and again for every conversation Fin resolves.
That unpredictability isn't unique to Intercom: Zylo's 2026 SaaS Management Index found 78% of IT leaders were hit with unexpected charges from consumption-based pricing last year. It's the norm across support tools too — Drag's 2026 State of AI Customer Support report found 11 of 15 tracked vendors now charge for AI by usage, not by seat.
In this guide, we'll look at how Intercom's pricing works, what real teams pay, where it falls short, and the best alternative in 2026.
Disclosure: ProductBridge is our own product. Both tools were compared on the same criteria, with Intercom's prices taken straight from their pricing page.
Intercom Pricing at a Glance
Intercom has three plans: Essential, Advanced, and Expert. There’s no free plan – only a 14-day free trial.
Plan | Monthly | Annually | Key Features |
Essential | $39 | $29/mo | Messenger live chat, shared inbox & ticketing, pre-built reports, public help center, basic automation |
Advanced | $99 | $85/mo | Essential + workflow automation builder, multiple team inboxes, round robin assignment, multilingual help center, 20 free Lite seats |
Expert | $139 | $132/mo | Advanced + SSO & identity management, HIPAA support, SLAs, multibrand messenger/help center, 50 free Lite seats |
Note: All pricing shown is per seat, and additional charges apply for Fin AI Agent ($0.99 per outcome), on top of your seat cost.
Add-ons (on every plan, on top of seats and Fin):
Pro (includes Operator) — from $99/mo, which covers 1,000 conversations a month, for advanced AI analytics and an agent for customer operations
Copilot — $29/teammate/mo billed annually, $35 billed monthly, free for the first 10 conversations/agent/mo
Proactive Support Plus — from $99/mo, which includes 500 messages sent a month, for in-app posts, checklists, product tours, surveys, and campaigns
What Counts as a Seat in Intercom?
A seat is any teammate who needs full access to Intercom’s helpdesk – inbox, tickets, reporting, and admin tools. You need at least one paid seat to use Intercom, no matter which plan you pick. More people using it, more seats, higher bill.
Intercom also offers Lite seats, which are a cheaper access level for people who just need to look at conversations or leave a comment, not handle support full-time.
Lite seats are free, but have limited voting and commenting
You only get them as extras on Advanced (20 free) and Expert (50 free)
Essential gets no Lite seats
What Intercom Actually Costs Your Team
The $29/seat/mo price only covers Essential. After that, seats scale linearly with no published volume discount — and every plan also adds $0.99 per Fin outcome on top.

Here's what Intercom costs at different team sizes, straight from their pricing in September 2026. We also compared Intercom pricing to ProductBridge pricing (our platform) – we're an alternative to Intercom but unbiased in the comparison.
Intercom Seat Pricing Table
Seats | Intercom Expert (Monthly Billing) | Intercom Expert (Annual Billing) | ProductBridge (Annual Billing) |
3 | $417 | $396/mo | $59/mo - Growth |
5 | $695 | $660/mo | $59/mo - Growth |
10 | $1,390 | $1,320/mo | $59/mo - Growth |
20 | $2,780 | $2,640/mo | Custom - Enterprise |
Unlike Intercom, ProductBridge doesn’t charge per seat. Growth includes SSO/SAML, MCP Server, and unlimited auto feedback ingestion at one flat price, all the way up to 10 team members. A team of 3 and a team of 10 both pay $59/mo, which is less than half what Intercom charges for a single Expert seat.
The pricing difference between Intercom and ProductBridge grows sharply as the number of seats increases. At 10 seats, ProductBridge costs $59/month – that's 93% less than Intercom Advanced ($850/month annual) and 96% less than Intercom Expert ($1,320/month annual).
On top of seats, every Intercom plan adds $0.99 per Fin outcome – so the true monthly cost climbs further with support volume.
Does Intercom Offer a Free Trial?
Yes, Intercom gives you a 14-day trial on any plan, and you don’t need a credit card to start. The trial includes:
Full access to your chosen plan’s features
Fin AI Agent
The Pro add-on
Proactive Support Plus
Unlimited Copilot usage
As many seats as you want, added for free during the trial
There’s no free-forever plan. Once the 14 days end:
You have to pick a plan and pay to keep your workspace live
Intercom starts the subscription automatically when the trial ends, so cancel before day 14 if you don’t want to be billed
If you don’t subscribe, you lose access to Fin and Intercom until you start a paid plan
You can add unlimited seats for free during the trial. So it’s easy to onboard your whole team without checking the cost – then see the real bill only at checkout. Worth pricing out your team size against the plans above before the trial ends.
Where Intercom Falls Short?
No free plan. Only a 14-day trial, then you need to pay.
You pay twice. Once for seats, and again for each Fin outcome ($0.99 each). A 5-person team on Advanced handling 500 Fin outcomes a month can already cross $900.
Your bill is unpredictable. You can’t control how many conversations Fin resolves each month, so this cost depends on your support volume, not your team size.
Not for product teams. Intercom can’t collect feature requests or show users a public roadmap of what’s coming. It does ship News, a changelog-style announcement feed, but the voting board and roadmap are missing.
Built for big support teams. Features like advanced workflows, 450+ integrations, and omnichannel routing are made for large support operations. Smaller teams end up paying for things they’ll never use.
Add-ons pile up fast. Pro is $99/workspace/mo, Copilot is $29/teammate/mo, and Proactive Support Plus is $99/workspace/mo — all on top of seats and Fin outcomes.
New owner, new roadmap: with Fin now inside Salesforce AI Labs and positioned alongside Agentforce, packaging and pricing are more likely to shift than they were a year ago.
Is Intercom Worth It in 2026?
It depends on your team size and budget. Intercom is a strong, full-featured support tool, but the per-seat plus per-outcome pricing adds up fast for smaller teams.
Intercom is worth it if:
You're a mid-to-large support team that needs omnichannel routing, advanced workflows, and 450+ integrations
You need enterprise features like SSO, HIPAA compliance, or multibrand support
Your team can absorb both seat costs and unpredictable Fin AI charges without it hurting the budget
You already run on Salesforce and want a support tool that fits that ecosystem
Intercom isn’t worth it if:
You're a small or growing SaaS team watching every dollar
You want feedback boards, a roadmap, or a changelog alongside support — Intercom has none of them
You want a predictable monthly bill, not one that moves with support volume
You're wary of committing long-term to a tool that just changed ownership
The tool works well. Fin is genuinely capable, and the interface is clean and easy for teams to pick up. The problem is the pricing model – a 2026 Stripo Research report found 73% of SaaS vendors have introduced or announced separate charges for AI features. Intercom does exactly that with Fin's per-outcome fee, and charges more as your support volume grows – when most teams want the opposite.
ProductBridge as an Intercom Alternative
ProductBridge is the best alternative to Intercom because it covers everything Intercom does with its own AI support agent – answering customer questions, working across channels, and resolving queries without a human stepping in.
It also goes further. ProductBridge collects feedback automatically from 20+ sources, runs it through Feedback Insights to sort everything into themes, and connects it straight to a roadmap and changelog, plus a help center, knowledge base, and surveys, none of which Intercom offers. So instead of running a support tool, a feedback tool, and a set of integrations to connect them, you get all of it in one place.
The pricing works differently too. Intercom charges per seat and adds $0.99 for every Fin outcome. ProductBridge charges one flat price – it doesn’t matter if your team has 3 people or 10, or if the AI handles 10 conversations a month or 1,000.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Intercom cost?
Intercom has three plans:
Essential – $29/seat/mo billed annually ($39/seat/mo monthly)
Advanced – $85/seat/mo billed annually ($99/seat/mo monthly)
Expert – $132/seat/mo billed annually ($139/seat/mo monthly)
Every plan also charges $0.99 per Fin outcome, on top of the seat price. There’s no free plan – only a 14-day free trial.
What happens if I add more seats to Intercom mid-month?
On monthly billing, seats can be added or removed anytime, and you’re only charged for the days a teammate was actually assigned one. On annual billing, you can add seats later, but you can’t remove them during your subscription term – so an annual plan locks in your seat count for the year, even if your team shrinks.
Is Intercom worth it in 2026?
It depends on your team size and budget. Larger support teams that need omnichannel coverage, 450+ integrations, and enterprise features like SSO or HIPAA compliance can absorb a bill that scales with headcount and support volume. Smaller teams watching costs closely will feel the per-seat plus per-outcome pricing add up fast.
What is the best alternative to Intercom in 2026?
ProductBridge is the best alternative to Intercom for SaaS teams. It runs an AI-native support agent that resolves customer queries the same way Fin does, but also covers feedback boards, roadmap, changelog, and surveys in one tool – starting at $29/month flat, with no per-seat or per-outcome fees.
What does Intercom actually cost per month in total?
Seats are only part of it. Ten Expert seats cost $1,320/month billed annually. Fin adds $0.99 per outcome, so 500 outcomes a month is another $495. Add the Pro add-on at $99 and Proactive Support Plus at $99, and the same team is close to $2,000 a month before Copilot seats are counted. That gap between the headline seat price and the invoice is the thing to model before you commit.
